My name is Nina Sweeney and I am an Illustrator from the UK. Self acceptance, friendship and femininity are the core themes of my artwork. I want to be able to connect people through my illustrations by creating something relatable and drawing focus to the small but important things in life. My role as an illustrator is to represent potentially difficult themes within my work, such as body dysmorphia and mental illness. I do this to make people that have experience with these issues feel seen, represented and generally to make people feel less alone. I like to combat these issues through humour, vibrancy and a bold graphic style with characters people can relate to.
The highlights of my experience as an illustrator have been being awarded as a finalist of the Lauren Childs Illustration Awards which led to my work being exhibited in St Pancras Station. I was also lucky enough to make the shortlist for the Northern Illustration awards 2019 and had my work exhibited at the Northern Festival of Illustration. Furthermore my work has been displayed at the DandAD New Blood Festival. I have been honoured to work with clients including; Lucy and Yak, Jiggy Puzzles, On Loan From The Cosmos Literary Magazine, Genna Amera Stylist, Kitty Kiln Pottery and Made by Liv Jewellery.
